Mary Frances Holmes AKA Frog, the third of eight children born to the late Prince A. Ware and Julia T. Ware on March 22, 1944 in King & Queen County and departed this life on May 5, 2017 at her residence. She attended public schools in Caroline County, graduating from Union High School in Bowling Green, Virginia. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the New Liberty Baptist Church.

She married Jesse C. Holmes on November 7, 1964 and they abided in marriage for 52 years. After moving to Washington, D.C., she successfully completed Child Development Studies at Prince George's Community College and worked at Cornerstone Day Care Center in Temple Hills, Maryland for 20 years.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to all that knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons; Jesse Lydell (Nancy) of Waldorf, Maryland, Jeffery (Jackie) of Hampton, Virginia; one sister, Girlene Harris of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one brother, Neal (Diane) of Milford, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Crystal Gayles of Woodbridge, Virginia and Florence Ware of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Shayla Holmes and Jesse L Holmes, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Landon and Lauren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight , I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:6-7.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at New Liberty Baptist Church, 33030 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia 22514. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at the church with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery 7820 Newtown Road, Newtown, Virginia 23126.
