Mary Magaline Brown, 65 of Ruther Glen, Virginia peacefully departed this life and entered into eternal rest on December 18, 2022, at the Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Bowling Green, Virginia. The youngest of eleven children, Mary was born August 9, 1957. She attended Caroline County Schools, graduating from Union High School. Accepting Christ at an early age, Mary joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Chilesburg, Virginia.
In her twenties, she moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland with her sister Theresa. She was employed in retail for over 20 years. Mary was known for her big smile and kind spirit. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others. Mary loved her family and worked diligently to assist where needed, especially with childcare for nieces and nephews. She found joy in teaching the children crafts and how to cook. Mary was very talented at creating beautiful hand-crafted crocheted bedspreads and embroidered items. In 2010, Mary returned to Ruther Glen, VA, where she resided until becoming ill. Even during her illness, Mary continued to check on family members and help when she could.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Anderson Brown and John Brown, four brothers, Calvin Ray Brown, Clinton Leon Brown, Lindburgh Brown, John Emanuel Brown, and two sisters, Lucille Shannon and Pauline Wright. She leaves to cherish her memory, five sisters, Rosa Chaney of Beaverdam, VA, Martha Holmes of Ruther Glen, VA, Theresa Toliver of Gaithersburg, MD, Joyce Gibbs of Woodbridge, VA, and Dorothy Brown of Woodford, VA, two brothers, Albert Brown of Dumfries, VA and John Brown, Jr. of Washington, DC., one brother in law, Danny Gibbs of Woodbridge, VA, one sister in law, Wendy Brown of Dumfries, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Homegoing celebration will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 02, 2023 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing two hours prior to the service.
