Marquis Uran Covington, affectionately known to family and friends as "Quis" or "Cheeseburger" was born July 08, 1984, in Fredericksburg, Virginia to Tavette E. Morton and Walton B. Morton.

Marquis was raised in Rappahannock Academy, Virginia. Growing up, Marquis was a very happy child who came from a very tight knit family.  At an early age he accepted Christ into his life and was baptized and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Royal, Virginia.

Marquis attended and graduated from Caroline County public schools in 2002. When he got out of high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Camp Lejune, South Carolina. Once out of the military, he made his home in Eclectic, Alabama where he worked for a HVAC company called AES Industries.

Marquis always maintained contact with his family, especially his parents whom he loved dearly. On January 18, 2025, unexpected to family and friends, God saw fit to call him home.

Marquis was preceded in death by both grandfathers, Frank E. Covington, Sr. and Walton "June" Childs and one aunt, Melissa A. Adams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved parents, Tavette E. Morton of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Walton B. Morton (Rose) of Ruther Glen, Virginia; grandmothers, Mary L. Covington of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Blanche Morton-Childs of Ruther Glen, Virginia; five aunts, Susan Smith (Zim) of Pompano, Florida, Edwinna Covington of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Theresa McNary (Dwight Sr.) and Regina Morton both of Bowling Green, Virginia and Catina Burrell (Timothy) of Ladysmith, Virginia; four uncles Frank Covington, Jr. of Manassas, Virginia, Jeremy Covington (Angela) of Bowling Green, Virginia, Tony Morton (Amanda) of Woodford, Virginia and Bernard Morton of Ruther Glen, Virginia; godmother, Barbara Rollins-Holmes (William) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, a very special friend, Angela M. Abrante of Eclectic, Alabama and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday February 01, 2025, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 505 Market Street, Port Royal, Virginia 22535, with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
