Lucille
Myers
Jun 12, 1939 — Nov 17, 2023
Fredericksburg
Lucille Bates-Myers was born on June 12, 1939 in the St. James area of Milford VA to Henry Bates and Magnolia Alexander Bates. She quietly departed this life Friday, November 17, 2023 at Fredericksburg Health & Rehab in Fredericksburg, VA.
She grew up in the St. James community and was baptized at an early age at The St. James Baptist Church, as life went along she relocated to Milford and then Bowling Green, Va. Lucille became a member of the historic Shiloh Baptist Church where she has been a member 40+ years also attended Sunday School Regularly, sang on various choirs, and also was a member of the Missionary Ministry. Lucille loved to pray and would not hesitate if called upon, she knew the power of prayer and by the time she finished praying you would know that God has truly been by her side through all her trials and tribulations and she didn't mind shouting and giving God praise for just that.
lucille was United in Holy Matrimony to William Henry Myers until he departed this life in 1961.
She was employed by Keller and she worked at Foreign & Domestic/Sauders for over 30yrs after that she left work to care for her daughter Amy. You could often find Lucille walking from Lakeshore to Bowling Green and turned down every ride that stopped because she called it her exercise. She loved her stories from 12:30 -2 her wrestling on Monday & Friday nights and of course Her Dallas Cowboys on any day! . She was an avid gardener you could often find her outside planting new flowers or tending to older ones she always could identify which ones were going to bloom again and didn't mind telling you not to touch her flowers. Lucille loved her family, the highlight of her life, was raising and caring for her grandchildren. She spoke highly and was equally proud of all of them. She was always full of joy, you could often find her listening to her southern soul classics while doing a word search. Lucille loved to dance and wouldn't mind cutting a step or 2 at family functions, and sometimes you could barely get her off the dance floor. Her laughter was contagious and it was never known what would come out of her mouth. Lucille was also instrumental with raising her sister in law, Roberta's youngest 3 children.
