Louise Virginia Dodson Garnett was born on April 13, 1944 in Ruther Glen, Virginia. She was one of six children born to Wesley Dodson, Sr. & Lucy Dodson.

Louise was preceded in death by both parents and her sister, Lucy Mae Anderson. Louise entered into eternal rest on May 20, 2016 at the Casey House (Montgomery Hospice) in Rockville, Maryland.

Louise accepted Christ at an early age at St. Luke Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, Virginia. Louise was active in serving in various ministries.

Louise received her early education in the Caroline Public School System. She was a graduate of Union High School, Class of 1963. She participated in many clubs and activities such as the School Newspaper, Library Club, New Homemakers of America (N.H.A) and Future Business Leaders of America (F.B.L.A.)

On June 22, 1963, Louise married the love of her life Everett Garnett. They were devotedly married for 52 years. Through this union their only son, Delwyn Garnett was born on November 20, 1973.

Seeking better employment opportunities, Louise and Everett moved to Washington D.C in June of 1963. Louise worked at Murphy's Drug Store for 5 years while striving to seek employment in the federal government. In June 1968, her perseverance paid off and she was employed at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. Within NIH, Louise worked for the National Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) where she was a Program Coordinator. She took great pride in knowing she was contributing to cutting edge research and making a difference in people's lives. While working full time, Louise took the opportunity to go back to school to increase her knowledge and improve her promotion potential. She enrolled at the School of Programming & Systems Institute where she received a diploma in Programming. In addition, Louise worked part time at LSW & Associates where she was a Data Processer. While at NIH, Louise worked tirelessly on many NIAID initiatives and projects. One of Louise's proudest moments was her contributions to the Indo-U.S. Vaccine Action Program (VAP), which was established in July of 1987 and supports a broad spectrum of activities relating to immunization and vaccine related research. Through this partnership with India, a Government to Government Memorandum of Understanding was established with NIAID and the Department of Biotechnology in India. The VAP Program is still inexistence to this day. On June 3, 2000, Louise retired from NIH after 32 years of loyal government service.

In January 2007, Louise started her second career as a Grandmother and changed her name to "NANA." This was her true PASSION. She loved spending time and taking care of Nadiya and Nikolas. She truly enjoyed pouring her love into them and taking pictures of them every chance she could. This was one of her greatest blessings she was able to experience.

Louise was a selfless person who made sure everyone was taken care of before herself. She provided unconditional love to her family and protected them with all of her being. She was a true VIRTUOUS Woman.

Louise leaves to mourn her passing: her husband Everett Garnett, one son Delwyn Garnett, daughter-in-law Kia Jackson-Garnett, two grandchildren Nadiya Garnett and Nikolas Garnett, one sister Anna Moore, three brothers James Dodson, Sr., Charles Dodson and Wesley Dodson, Jr, three sister-in-law's Alice Dodson, Louise Dodson and Mabel Garnett, one brother-in-law Harry Coleman, three devoted friends Verlene Barton Savage, Elnita Curtis-Maldonado and Ethel Bennett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
