Obituary

Rev. Louis Thomas Washington Jackson, 89, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at his home in Woodford, Virginia. Born July 7, 1926, in Caroline County, Virginia, Rev. Jackson led an exemplary life as God's faithful servant and a devoted husband, father and friend. His generosity is known throughout Virginia as he dedicated a lifetime of opening his heart and home to others.

Educated in the Caroline County Public School System, Rev. Jackson graduated from Union High School, Bowling Green, Virginia in 1943. He then attended Virginia State College and Virginia Union, attaining his bachelor's degree.

Rev. Jackson also served in the United Statess Army and was later employed as a Craftsman at Quantico Marine Base, retiring after thirty years of service.

Later in life Rev. Jackson answered the Lord's call to minister and was ordained for the ministry by the late Rev. Frank Johnson, former Pastor of Long Branch Baptist Church. The Lord graciously led him to serve as a Pastor for many years at First Baptist Church, Guinea and First New Hope Church, Partlow, Virginia; and he was an active participant with various ministerial organizations throughout Virginia.

After 66, years of blessings in holy matrimony, Rev. Jackson leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife and best friend, Victoria Elizabeth Williams Jackson; four children, Charlyne Bryant of San Diego, CA, Louis Jackson, Jr. "Tommy" of Woodford, VA, Eva "Edie" Williams of Norfolk, VA, Roderick Jackson "Rocky" (Raynell) of Hustle, VA; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Webster Jackson (Karen) of Philadelphia, PA; Jesse Jackson of Woodford, VA; Ryland Jackson (Anne) of Spotsylvania, VA; one sister, Joyce Watson of Fredericksburg, VA; two brothers-in-law, Franklin and Theodore Williams of Woodford, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Rev. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Carrie Jackson; foster daughter, Renee Arrington; brothers, Leonza and Herbert Jackson and sisters, Marlene Simpson and Carrie Belle Garnett.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 16, from 12 noon to 7 p.m. with a Christian Wake from 7 to 8 p.m. at Long Branch Baptist Church, 14297 Long Branch Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, at Long Branch Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
