Lou Melvin Baylor, Jr., 61, of Ashland, Virginia, departed this life on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at McGuire VA Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia. Lou was the son of the late Lou Melvin and Edith Terrell Baylor.

He leaves to mourn his departure from this earthly home, two daughters, Deborah and Felicia, his lifetime friend, Mrs. Lovely Geraldine Hines Baylor; one son-in-law, Jonathan Jackson, three grandchildren, Chantel, Davien and Joshua; four devoted sisters, Lil Thornton (Charles Wesley), Julia B. Jones (Robert), Cecilia Messiah (Rev. Carl Messiah) and Teresa LaVerne Vaughn; two brothers, Jerome and Raymond Baylor (Bessie); one sister-in-law, Marian P. Baylor; one devoted aunt, Addie S. Terrell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, from noon to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Bowling Green and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.

A celebration service will be held on Thursday, June 25, at 11 a.m. at Oxford Mount Zion Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, Virginia, with Rev. Isaac Johnson officiating and Rev. Duane T. Fields, Sr. delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
