Lloyd Hampton Freeman, 98, departed peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Lloyd was born September 14, 1910 in Balty, VA to the late Robert and Hattie Freeman. His wife, Virginia Freeman, and his daughter, Dorothy Harmon, preceded in him in death. Lloyd loved the Lord and his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sons: Raymond Freeman of Doswell, VA, Robert Freeman of Plugerville, TX, Thomas Freeman of Ruther Glen, VA and Bernard Freeman and his wife, Faye, of Ruther Glen, VA; three daughters, Myrtle Fortune and her husband, Lucius, of Ruther Glen, VA, Delores Freeman of Washington, D.C., and Gloria Freeman of Ruther Glen, VA; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation is from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 31, 2009, at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, VA 22427 with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday.
A celebration of his long life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 11:00 A.M., at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, VA 22580 with the Rev. Dr. W. G. Berryman, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
