Lindsey Nathaniel Childs, Sr., 77, of Ruther Glen, Va. entered into eternal rest after a brief illness on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at his residence.

He was a loving and kind husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wilbur Childs, and his son Lindsey Provizona Childs. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Elsie; three sons, James Washington (Karen), Lindsey Jr., and Darryl Childs of Caroline County, Virginia; two daughters, Wynnie Avent of Richmond, Virginia and Flora Callaway (Gene) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one sister, Marie Fox of Ruther Glen, Virginia; one brothers, James Childs (Joanne) of Roxie, Mississippi; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia with Rev. Dr. W. G. Berryman, Pastor officiating and giving the eulogy. Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Virginia at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009.

Viewing will be at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, July 2, 2009 from Noon to 8:00 P.M. and on Friday at the Church one hour before the service.
