Leslie Lee Scott was born on February 11, 1934, in Caroline County, Virginia, the third oldest of seven children to the late Wilton and Evelyn Freeman Scott. Leslie peacefully departed his earthly life on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at his residence with his devoted wife of 68 years by his side.

Leslie was educated in the Caroline County School System. He excelled in plumbing, pipe fitting, electrical wiring, and carpentry skills and was employed with FMC – American Viscose Corporation, Fredericksburg, Virginia for many years. His next assignment brought his skills to the Caroline County Community. He became the building inspector for the Caroline County Department of Inspections and Permits, and Superintendent of the Milford Water System. Leslie respected and enjoyed serving his community. It was only natural that he made friends throughout his journey until retirement in 1996.

In his early years, Leslie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at the St. John Baptist Church, where he remained a lifelong faithful servant. He served as an Usher for over 50 years, Trustee Board and Cemetery Committee. Leslie was a member of the Masonic Lodge #129.

Leslie was united in holy matrimony to Clara Woolfolk on July 31, 1954. From this union they were blessed with three children, Vanessa Dale, Leslie Wayne, and Allen Bruce. A devoted, loving, and supportive husband and father that provided for his family. Leslie enjoyed maintaining his property, mowing the lawn, and keeping the shrubs pruned to perfection. Leslie looked forward to planting and harvesting his garden annually and sharing the bounty with family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson , Brian Scott and five siblings; two brothers, Wilton and Floyd Scott; three sisters, Earline Scott, Evelyn Franklin and Florence Williams.

Leslie leaves fond memories to be cherished by his wife, Clara Woolfolk Scott, one daughter, Vanessa Scott Waddy (Rudy) Upper Marlboro, Maryland, two sons, Leslie Wayne Scott (Otelia) , Allen Bruce Scott (Greta)  both of Milford, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Darrell, Leticia Boone (Weldon), Jermaine, Christopher, Brandon, and Derek;  ten great grandchildren; one brother, Emmett Scott, Forestville, Maryland; five sisters-in-law, Nina Harley, Carolyn Bryant (Nathaniel), Sylvia Bell (David), Otelia Rice, and Alease Gaskins (Brad); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023  at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia  22427.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
