Leslie James Morton, Sr. entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia. Leslie was born December 1, 1949 to the late Jessie Howard Morton, Sr. and Mary Ellen Wright Morton in Caroline County, Virginia.

He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Gailee Baptist Church in King George, Virginia. He began his education in Caroline County Public Schools and completed his education while enlisted in the military.

Leslie joined the United States Army on August 12, 1968. He did a tour in Vietnam and many other service adventures. He ended his military duties on December 5, 1972 with a honorable discharge.

Leslie loved life and all it offered. After his military time he made Seattle, Washington his home and he continued to travel the states. He made barbering his career. Any where you found Leslie you could have a joyful laugh.


Leslie is survived by his wife, Caroline Christine Johnson; two daughters, Angie and Beige; four sons, Leslie, Jr. (Angie), Nicholas, Jahvon and Andre; 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Jessie Morton, Jr. (Sheila); three sisters, Shirley Monroe (Robert), Blanche Childs (Walton) and Mary Croxton; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour before the service on Sunday.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 7 at Caroline County Community Services Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wrightsville Road, Milford, Virginia.
