Leroy McAllister, Jr.

Leroy Timothy McAllister Jr., “Tee” was born on August 19, 1948, in Richmond, Virginia, to Leroy Timothy McAllister Sr. and Elizabeth McAllister. From his earliest days, Leroy was known for his quiet strength, warm heart, and welcoming spirit.

A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Leroy carried the discipline, loyalty, and integrity of his service throughout his life. After his military service, he built a long and dedicated career as a truck driver and was known on the CB radio as “Seaboard Coastline.” He loved big trucks and the open road and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Leroy could give directions almost anywhere, always with confidence, accuracy, and a smile. It was through his career as a truck driver that he met the love of his life and lifelong companion, Marie.

In retirement, Leroy embraced a new joy with Marie: traveling to Florida, South Carolina, and Delaware, as well as taking grand cross-country journeys in their beloved RV, affectionately known as “The Coach.” Together, they explored the country, shared many adventures, visited family and friends, and created memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Leroy was a humble, warm, and deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He never met a stranger, and his gentle nature, quick humor, and perfectly timed jokes made him the life of the party wherever he went.

Leroy was a soft-spoken, kind gentleman, yet he never spared the truth. His honesty was a gift, his humor a comfort, and his presence a blessing.

He worshiped at St. Paul Baptist Church, located at 1995 Globe Road in Aylett, Virginia, where he found fellowship, faith, and community and served faithfully in many capacities.

Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Marie Agurs McAllister; his children, Vincent McAllister (VA) and Kenya McKnight (Shafton) (DE); his granddaughter, Hallie Marie McAllister; his brother, Ernest McAllister (Kim) (VA). He is also survived by his loving aunts, Laverne and Frances Gwathmey, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Timothy McAllister Sr. and Elizabeth McAllister, and his son, Leroy Timothy McAllister III.

Leroy was a proud and devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, as well as a passionate supporter of the Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Leroy’s legacy is one of love, laughter, faith, and truth. His memory will continue to guide, comfort, and inspire all who were blessed to know him.
