Lee Otis Yancey was born on May 11, 1923, in Buffalo Junction, Va in Mecklenburg County to James Yancey and Leanna Harris.  He departed this life on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation in Bowling Green, Va.

He grew up in Buffalo Junction and at an early age he attended Saint Mark Church and also attended the Saint Mark School.  Lee united in holy matrimony to Mary Yancey in 1953 and in 1955 they moved to Bowling Green, Va and worked cutting logs with the people that they came up from Keysville, Va with.

At cutting wood for many years, he was employed at Foreign and Domestic Lumber Company for many years until he retired.

Lee was the youngest in his family and he is proceeded in death by his wife Mary Yancey, his parents, his six brothers and sisters, Jim, Tom, Edward, Lilian, Lettie and Vivian and one son, Eugene Hunt, one great grandson, one great great- grandson.

He loved to dance and have fun, he always played the harmonica and the guitar and sing the blues, he loved being happy and making others feel happy.

He leaves to cherish his children, Lewis Yancey (Janice) of Richmond, Va., Lettie Yancey (Edward) of Bowling Green, Va., seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and twelve great- great -grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who are too numerous to name.

A viewing will be held from 5 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Celebration of life service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Long Branch Baptist Church, 14297 Long Branch Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wrightsville Road, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
