Our beloved Lauretta Mae Pleasant was called home to rest on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was born on January 2, 1949, to the late James Lee Abrams and Daisy A. Abrams of Milford, Virginia .
Lauretta joined Saint John Baptist Church at an early age . She received her education at the public schools of Caroline County and was employed at Keller Industries for many years.
Lauretta met the love of her life, Sherley Wendell Pleasant, with whom she shared her life for many years. She enjoyed taking care of her home and her family and was a devoted mother to her children.
In addition to her parents, Lauretta was preceded in death by four brothers, Luther Abrams, Raymond Childs, Alfred Abrams and Roger Abrams.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Stacy Pleasant and Sabrina Pleasant; three sisters, Annie Coleman of Milford, Virginia, who was a devoted caregiver, Judy Monroe (Walter) of Ruther Glen, Virginia and Betty Anderson (Daniel) of Mangohick, Virginia; three brothers, Algie Abrams of Ladysmith, Virginia, who was devoted, Robert Abrams of Woodford Virginia, and Alfred Abrams of Ashland, Virginia; two grandchildren, Tavon Pleasant and Tevin Pleasant (Lorraine); mother-in- law, Mary C. Pleasant, two sisters-in-law, Gloria Abrams and Gwen Pleasant; three great grandchildren, Matthew, Talyah and Tyjier; friends, Fannie Washington, who was devoted, Roberta Simms and Teresa Pleasant; and a host of nieces, one of whom was devoted, Pamela Coleman, and a host of nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
