Obituary

Kiarra Denea Martin, affectionately known as "Keke" entered eternal rest on September 7, 2023, at Rosedale Health & Rehabilitation at age 27.

Keke was born on October 13, 1995, in Richmond, VA and spent majority of her life in Tappahannock Virginia. She attended Essex High School where she thrived academically. During her time at Essex, Keke served on the national honor society and made the honor roll each semester. She graduated high school in 2014 and continued her education at Northern Neck Technical Center where she became a CNA and Phlebotomist. Keke found a great sense of fulfillment in caring for patients and interacting with them daily. In 2015, Keke moved to Norfolk, VA where she worked as a Phlebotomist at Octapharma Plasma and a Medical Assistant at Sentara before deciding to further her career by pursing an associate degree at Tidewater Community College. On May 9, 2022, Keke graduated as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. At the time of her passing she was enrolled at Old Dominion University to receive her bachelor's degree.

Keke was a very joyful person with a great spirit. She had a smile and laugh that could light up any room she entered. She was hardworking, self-sufficient, and an incredibly deep thinker. She enjoyed talking on the phone for hours at a time with her girlfriends, going out to eat, cooking for others, and dancing. But her favorite pastime of all, was being a mother and making memories with her son, Massian "Si" Jones. From the moment he was born, Si became the center of Keke's world. She took great pride in raising him and helping him flourish into the young man he is today.

Keke was an active member of Oakwood Chapel Church, Disciples of Christ. She was a firm believer in God and trusted the power of prayer when navigating hardships. Keke was very family oriented. She was a loyal and dependable friend to all that knew her. You could always count on Keke to give honest advice when needed and to show up at any event that required her support.

Keke was a loving and caring mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Carroll Washington; paternal grandfather John William Martin; maternal grandmother Endie B. Washington; and paternal grandmother Beatrice "Bea" Baylor.

Keke is survived by her son Massian "Si" Jones; mother Charlene Martin; her father Banny Martin; her brothers Tyrese Roane, Delont'e (Katie) Childs, Banny (Charlotte) Martin Jr.; her sister India (Marvin) Williams; sister-in-law Lakita Bunns; step-grandfather Richard Baylor; her special friend Anthony Keyes; many cousins and close friends.
