Obituary

On August 9, 1956, Kelvin Leon Minor, Sr. (Leon) was born to the late Aubrey E.Minor, Sr. and Lillie Mae (Bowens) Minor. On Friday, September 16, 2022, God decided all the plumbing needs in the DMV area was done for now, and he reached in his toolbox and selected a special tool—one of imperfections—but still of value. With a soft whisper, He said: Well done and welcomed Leon home.

Leon was educated in the District of Columbia public school system. Following graduation, he attended Lincoln Tech for auto mechanics. He briefly pursued this career before working as the complex maintenance manager at Bradford Apartments. It was there that he learned skills that would lead him to work for Raine & Son Plumbing. In true Leon fashion, he had to be his own boss and do things the way he wanted, so he started his own business, Minor Plumbing. His company logo was witty, if you ever saw his business card, you know!

Leon was gifted with one child, his pride and joy, Kelvin or as he called him "Lil Man" or "Short Leg". There are not enough words to describe the joy, pride, and love he had for Kelvin. He loved him unconditionally. They never parted ways, whether in person or on the phone without saying, "love you, my son" followed by "love you too, Pops". It provides comfort, unknowingly, the last words that they spoke to one  another was a true testament of their relationship.

Leon leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory; his mother, Lillie M. Minor; son, Kelvin Minor, Jr; daughter-in-law, Sherrica; four granddaughters; Kambria, Kahmani, Brooklyn and Brynleigh; one grandson, Elijah; two sisters, Robin and Candy; four brothers; Ellis, Rayvon, Eric, and Billy; brother-in-law, Lavant; sister-in-law, Nijeri; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 01, 2022 at Ebenezer Baptist Church. 18562 Countyline Church Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
