Julius Chambers, Sr., 67, entered eternal rest on October 31, 2010 at MicAnd Assisted Living in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The son of the late Francis V. and Major B. Chambers, Jr., Julius received his education in the public schools of Caroline County where he was a graduate of Union High School, Class of 1961. Immediately following graduation he maried his high school sweetheart, Margaret Rock.

Julius enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on July 3, 1961. He dutifully fulfilled his military obligation and was honorably discharged on March 27, 1967 as a CPL after four years of active and reserve duty.

He began his civilian career with the United States Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia in 1967. He successfully performed his job as a Warehouse Supervisor and after 27 years retired in October, 1994. During his life, he was an excellent handyman, enjoyed vacationing with family and watching military movies.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret E. Chambers; three children, Julius Chambers, Jr. (Melissa) of Caroline County, Virginia, Fred Chambers of Castleton, Virginia, and Teresa Harrington (Tim) of River Falls, Wisconsin; a brother, Charles Chambers (Tina) of Spotsylvania, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Doris Carter (late Alfred Carter) and Mary Ellen Johnson (Willie); brother-in-law, Larry Rock (Henrietta); seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous beloved family members.

Viewing will be on Thursday, November 4, 2010 from Noon to 8:00 PM at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580 with Rev. Dr. W. G. Berryman, Pastor, delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
