Julia Alice "Granny" Washington was born in Washington DC on July 21st, 1928 to the late Laura Samuels. She fell asleep in death on August 7 th 2020 at the age of 92 in Milford Virginia.

Julia was affectionately known as a Granny to all. She was a daycare provider not only for her family but for the community. She loved to cook, dance and displayed a lively sense of humor. Her memory was outstanding as she could recall most of her family history.

She developed a desire to have strong relationship to her God Jehovah, which led to her dedicating her life by symbolizing it in dedication by baptism on January 9 th 1952.

She is preceded in death by her husband Edward "Charlie Brown" Washington, mother Laura Samuels and brother Herman "Peter" Carter.

She leaves her loving memories to her children Lucille (Robert) Hevelow of Spotsylvania, John (Margie) Holmes of Milford, Betty (Emmett) Childs of Ruther Glen, Virginia (Elvis) Ferguson of Bowling Green, Jo Ann (James) Jones of Milford, and Larry (Alisa) Holmes Clermont Florida; 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. Her siblings, Mary Bolling of Alpharetta GA, James Coleman of Ruther Glen, Mack Coleman of Hague VA and Cecilia Smith of Ruther Glen.

Granny will be deeply missed by all her family, friends and all who knew her.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 12,2020 at C.W.Edwards Funeral Home Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A  Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday August 13, 2020 at C.W.Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Interment will follow at Mt. Lawn Cemetery, Woodford, Virginia 22580
