Obituary

Joyce Ann Carter, 62 of Bowling Green, Virginia entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Mary Washington, Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia.  She was born on July,31st 1955 to Vivian M. Latney and the late James Herman Latney.

Joyce accepted Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Baptist Church. She was educated in Caroline County School System. Joyce graduated from Bowling Green Senior High School in 1975.She begin working the opening year at Kings Dominion and later worked at Keller Industries. Joyce also did housekeeping until her health started to decline.

Joyce loved to do things throughout the community. She took pride in preparing meals and cooking for others. She made everyone feel welcomed, even strangers. One of her favorite hobbies was playing cards with close friends.  She really enjoyed listening to her "oldies but goodies" music while sitting at her kitchen table. Joyce was most passionate about being a caregiver for her babe Rogers and spending quality time with her grandkids. She will always be remembered for her giving ways, kind heart and of course her cooking.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memories her husband William Rogers Carter of Bowling Green, Virginia ,three daughters Cheryl Bush (Nathan) of Virginia Beach Va. Vivian Joann Latney of Bowling Green, Va. Lisa Latney of Richmond, VA, siblings Gloria Jean Taharount (Samir) of Fredericksburg ,Va. Dora Edenton of Ladysmith VA , Vivian J. Latney (Ronnie) of Woodford, VA , Mary Fails of Hinesville, Ga., Lynda Graddick (Neal McDowney) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, James B. Latney of Woodbridge, Virginia and Juanita Latney (Unique) of Richmond, Virginia ;six grandchildren, Janaesya, Kyra, Caleb, Cameron, Cherish and Serenity; two aunts Geraldine Myers and Willa Mae Johnson, one uncle Logene  Johnson; sister in laws, Mildred Reid, Barbara Ann Nails, Deborah Ransmeir, and Linda Carter; brother in law Eddie Carter( Martha ); sister friend for thirty plus years, Luetheal Childs; devoted friends, Elizabeth "Cool Nut" Taylor and Carolyn Chapman Day; a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and other relatives and friends; also her beloved dog Abby.


A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with family receiving  friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Caroline Community Services Center 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in St. James Baptist Church Cemetery 19514 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia
