Joseph Franklyn Prennett Twiggs departed this life at home in the early morning hours on April 2,2018. Joseph, known to all as Joe, was born on May 13, 1930 in Richmond, VA.  He was the first of four children of the late Phillip and VeEtta Twiggs.

Joe graduated from Union High School in Caroline County, and was a member of Reedy Baptist Church. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Shirley Johnson on September 10, 1949. Joe was a self-employed contractor who built throughout Caroline and surrounding counties. He never met a stranger, and always had a story to tell.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory and will be sadly missed by his wife of 68 years-Shirley; two daughters-Vernelle and JoAnne (devoted son-in-law Reginald), his son Keith; two grandsons-Reginald II (Shajuan) and Cory (Christina); three great grandchildren-Aaliyah, Elijah and Reginald III, sister Bert Nichols; and two sisters-in-law-Eleanor Twiggs and Fannie Johnson.

He is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins. and other relatives and friends-including his devoted friends-Russell Jenkins and Suzanne Shaffert.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday April 7,2018, at Reedy Baptist Church, 15076 Drybridge Rd, Ruther Glen,VA 22546 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
