Johnie E. Freeman, 81, of Richmond, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.  Johnie Ellis Freeman (Joe), a native of Caroline County was born March 2, 1944.  He is the son of the late William Freeman, Sr. and Margaret Byrd Freeman.

He received his education at Caroline County Public School system.  He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Oni Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W. D. Adkins.

Johnie married Marietta Belinda Atkins Freeman.  They were joined in holy matrimony on December 22, 1990.

Johnie worked at various jobs before he his most memorable job, Richmond Airport He worked there for over 40 years.  He made a lot of friends was well known and he was loved.

Johnie played baseball with his brothers Par, Vernon and Eddie.  He loved talking on the CB.  His handle was DANGEROUS "44".  He was one of the strongest people you would ever want to meet.  He also enjoyed drag racing.  He and his brothers were known for having one of the "fastest cars (Freeman Racing Team) in Caroline County and Johnnie was definitely the "promoter."

Johnie was preceded in death by his parents, William Freeman Sr., Margaret Byrd Freeman grandparents, Willie Cammack and Ivy Lee Cammack.  Also preceding him in death, brothers William Freeman, Sr., Wilbert Freeman, Wesley Freeman, Eddie Freeman and Laura Lee Brandon.

Johnnie is survived by his loving wife, of 37 years, Marietta Belinda Atkins Freeman, two devoted daughters, Pamela Carter (Pastor Oliver Carter) and Sheila Coles, five adorable grandchildren, Steven Stepney, Jr. Ramonde' Carter Charlye Carter, Steve Coles, Shantae Coles, two stepsons, Timothy Atkins and George Atkins one great grandchild Malachi Coles. He leaves to mourn three devoted brothers, Deacon Willie Freeman (Louise), Sylvester Freeman (Delores) Vernon Freeman, two sisters, Helen Jones (Oscar), Bettie Smith (Jeremiah), devoted friends, Adrian Young, Barry Winston, Darryl Sims, Marvin Dawson, Ron Winston, Shirelle Smith, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

A Memorial service will be held at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. Chapel, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia, on Saturday, October 18, 2025, 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
