John Allison Miles, 90, son of the late Sandy Richard Miles and Maude Ivy Miles departed this earthly life on March 18, 2016. As the last of nine children, he was preceded in death by four brothers Waverly, Jarvis, Dan, Nathaniel and Luther. Three sisters Queen Esther Miles Pollard, Selma Miles Williams and Martha Miles Bates. One ex- wife Annie Mae Moore and son Jerome Miles.

John became a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Garysburg, North Carolina at an early age. He then moved to Bowling Green, Virginia where he became a member of Beth'el Baptist Church and then later moving his membership on to Shiloh Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Virginia where he served on the men's choir.

John retired from Newtown Printing Corporation in Fredericksburg, Virginia and Container Corporation of America in Baltimore, Maryland.

John leaves his cherished memories to one daughter, Delores Newsome, one daughter-in-law Yvonne Miles; four grandchildren, Damon Newsome, Nakia McConneaughey,( Gene), Quentin Whaley (Shona) and Wendell Miles; three great-grandchildren;a devoted niece Shirley Baylor; a devoted nephew, Sandy Pollard; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and an ex-wife that remained a very close friend, Bonita Spencer.
