John Lewis Golden, Jr. 85, of Bowling Green, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2009.
Born October 4, 1923, he was the second of five children born to the late John and Ruth Golden.
He was employed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Virginia, until his retirement in 1984.
Survivors include his son, John Lavell Golden and his wife, Angela, of Richmond,Virginia; two grandchildren, Janai and Tyler Golden of Richmond, Virginia; one brother, Lawrence Golden of Bowling Green; one sister-in-law, Rev. Cynthia Golden, of Bowling Green, Virginia, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 4, from 12 noon to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon at Shiloh Baptist Church, 127 South Main Street, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427, on Saturday, September 5, with the Rev. Steve W. Kendell, officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery Woodford, Virginia.
