Reverend John Thomas Floyd was born in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty eight years, Catherine Dews Floyd in 2010 and both his parents, Mary Magdalene Floyd of West Virginia in 1978 and Maillard Van Thompson of Evington, Virginia in 2006.
He graduated from Campbell County High School and was a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church for many years. He was a loving, caring and devoted husband and father to his family who loved cars and westerns on television.
Left to cherish his memories are one son; John Thomas, Jr. of Texas; three daughters, Daisy Garnett-Floyd of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Cynthia Elbert-Pollock and Sharon Floyd both of Richmond, Virginia; one daughter in law, Terri Callahan-Floyd of Texas; one son in law, Jameo Pollock of Richmond, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Jaedan Smithers of Richmond, Virginia, Winston Garnett of Atlantic Georgia, Essence Elbert of Richmond, Virginia and Daysha Garnett of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Mary Ellen Moreno, April McDonough and Melissa Floyd of Texas; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
