Jessica M. Childs, 42 of Ruther Glen, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 07, 224 , in Charles City, Virginia.

Jessica attended Caroline County Public Schools and had just accepted a manager position at her new place of employment. She is known for her vibrant personality and memorable phrases like, "My name ain't Bird, it's Jessica," and "Why you care?" Jessica brought joy and laughter to those around her. To know Jessica was to love her. She was outgoing and cherished her time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Raheem; her grandparents, Albert Childs Sr. and Earlene Childs; her uncles, Tony Childs and Albert Childs Jr. (Bunny); and her aunt, Eva Childs (Bacie).

Jessica leaves behind her parents, Debra and Oran; her son, Jayvon Childs; and her companion, Kevin Smith (Tazz). She is also survived by her four sisters: Tamera Childs, Audrey Hines, Nicole Derricotte, and Maxine Grey; her brothers: Oran Childs (Oggie) and Jerry Washington; her three aunts: Bonnie Childs-Washington (Mickey), Sandra Deyo (Jeffrey), Lillian Colbert, her two uncles: Avery Childs and Eric Childs, her two great uncles: Brent Childs (Anne), and Bill Taylor; her great aunt; Vivian Taylor, and a host of nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and devoted friends.

Jessica's warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves a legacy of love, compassion,  and strength that will continue to inspire her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Caroline County Community Service Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be private.
