Jesse Lee Pollard, affectionately known to family and friends as “Jesse Lee,” “Butch,” “JP,” or “Sooner,” quietly passed into eternal rest on Thursday, September 24, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.Born on June 10, 1949, in Aylett, Virginia, Jesse was the fifth of six children born to Horace E. and Mary E. Pollard. At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and joined Providence Baptist Church on August 24, 1963. He was educated in the King William County Public School System.
Throughout his career, Jesse dedicated many hardworking years to Best Products and later Bennett Minerals, where he worked until his retirement. Jesse was a true homebody who found his greatest happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He spent his favorite days relaxing at home listening to music, watching classic Western TV shows, and enjoying quality time with visitors. Jesse’s laughter, warmth, quick wit, and signature chuckle—especially at his own jokes—will sorely be missed by all who knew him.
In his later years, as he faced health challenges, Jesse was surrounded by a dedicated circle of caregivers and loved ones whose kindness enriched his daily life. They blessed him endlessly delivering daily meals, driving him to medical appointments, taking care of home maintenance, and offering steady companionship through visits and calls. Their presence brought him immense comfort and joy.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Mary Pollard; his beloved wife, Dearl Pollard; his sisters, Grace Chism, Annie Pollard, and Laura Green; and his brother, Deacon Eldridge Pollard.
He leaves behind a legacy of devotion and warmth. Though he had no biological children, Jesse deeply cherished his marriage to Dearl and lovingly embraced her three sons as his own, along with their families.
Jesse is survived by his loving and devoted sister, Julia Jackson (Roy); his aunt, Virginia R. Williams; brothers-in-law, E. Weldon Green and Robert Terrell (Doris); sisters-in-law, Eunice Pollard, Ertell Lee, and Geraldine Watson; stepsons, John, Kenneth, and Leroy Fairley; nephews, Wesley Chism, Jr. (Carlinda), Horace Pollard (Rhonda), Brien Pollard, and Edward Green, Jr.; nieces, including his devoted niece, Danielle Butler (Darnell), Anita Saunders (Robert), and Shawna Pollard; devoted friends, Thomas and Carolyn Green, Barbara Vanstienburg, and Johnny Anderson whose loving contributions and dedication went above and beyond the call of duty; along with a host of great- and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
