On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, God extended His almighty hand of love and gently transitioned Jesse James Evans to his heavenly home.

Jesse, affectionately known as "Dump" to family and friends, was born on June 7, 1941 to the late Thornton and Irene Evans.  He confessed his faith to God at an early age, was baptized, and became a member of Saint John Baptist Church, in Milford, Virginia.  He received his education in the Caroline County school system. On May 7, 1988, Jesse was united in Holy Matrimony with Carliece "Sandy" Evans, who preceded him in death.

Jesse made a career as a tractor trailer driver.  He was well known as "Hot Pocket" to his fellow truckers.  For many years, he was an over-the-road driver traveling the east and west Coasts.  He drove for several trucking companies, including Liesfield Lumber and Jackson Hauling. He later started his own trucking company and became the owner/operator of "JET Trucking" where he hauled general freight for Dawson Deliveries until his health began to decline.   He enjoyed relaxing and watching his favorite western TV shows from his recliner and catching the sights from the bay window.  He looked forward to trips to the casino and planting fruits and vegetables in his garden.  He also had a great love for man's best friend—his dogs, Blackie, Queenie, and Brownie.  Jesse was a wonderful husband, father and uncle and always made sure his family had everything they needed.

In addition to his parents and wife, "Sandy", Jesse was also preceded in death by three sisters, Orlean Young, Joyce Ray, and Maria Louise Wingfield, and two brothers, Ernest Evans and Richard Evans.

He leaves treasured and fond memories to his daughter, Antoinette Lewis of Ruther Glen, Virginia; son, James Washington (Kimberly) of Colonial Beach, Virginia; step-daughter, Tiffany Lair and step- grandson Jaylen Lair of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Gloria Howard of Chester, Pennsylvania; three sisters-in-law, Helen Evans, Grace Short, and Jane Johnson, all of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Gary Jackson (Thelma) of Fredericksburg; a special cousin, Eloise Cody and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Evergreen Cemetery, Wrightsville Road, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Due to COVID 19 a mask or face covering is required.
