Obituary

Jerry Washington, 62 of Ruther Glen, Virginia departed this life on January 23, 2025. He was better known as Country P the traveling mechanic was born December 20, 1962, to the late Charles B.T. Washington and Mary G. Morton Croxton. Jerry graduated from Caroline High School and soon after started his passion of repairing cars. He has served everyone that needed his help sometimes not getting paid for long and hard labor but never complained. Jerry also worked for Peter Parker, laying concrete for many years even traveling for out-of-town jobs with Peter. He also worked at Hoovers for a while, but nothing could compare to his passion of working on and repairing vehicles.

Jerry was well loved and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jessie and Mary Morton who raised him, Booker T.  and Violet Washington, aunts, Viola, Marlene, Alene, Marion, Dorothy, uncles, Leslie, Robert Cadillac, Chester, Harry, James Boy, his sister Jessica Childs and one of his favorite cousins, Kevin Monroe.

Jerry leaves cherished memories to his one and only daughter, Demetria Anderson (Shaun) four grandchildren, Shauntrea, Keyshawn, T'Shawn and the new grandbaby that he was so proud of, Stomi, his mother Mary G. Croxton of Ruther Gelen, VA, his sisters, Maxine Gahagan and Lisa Washington both of Ruther Glen, VA, his brothers, James Washington (Kim) of Colonial Beach, VA, Rodney Washington of Ruther Glen, VA and Alton Croxton of King George, VA, his aunts, Shirley Monroe and Blanche Childs both of Milford, VA . Lillian Colbert of Philadelphia and one uncle, Jessie Morton of Newtown, VA, eighteen nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, devoted cousins, Stoney Robert Monroe, Tony Morton, Pastor Richard Monroe, devoted friends, Madrice Hamn, Roscoe and Bonnie Childs, Henry Shepherd and Jamel Bubba Shepherd.

Celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Caroline Community Services Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wrightsville Road, Bowling Green, Virginia.
