Jerry Adrian Shipman received his angel wings on July 1, 2017, in North East Georgia Medical Center. Jerry was born on June 19, 1967 to Jerry Shipman and the late Gloria Jean Shipman.
Jerry "Adrian" was preceded in death by his son Marcus Andrew Shipman. Paternal Grandparents James T. and Mamie C. Shipman, Maternal Grandmother Beatrice Watts and Maternal Grandfather Nelson William Johnson.
Adrian (as he is affectionately known by his family) attended Richmond Public School until his parents moved the family to Caroline County. Adrian played football, and hold the office of treasure with the FFA (Future Farmers of American) while in Caroline County High School where he was in the graduating class of 1985. Upon graduating High School Adrian served his country with the United Marine Corp., for 13 years. After his discharge Adrian moved to Peoria IL., attended Illinois Central College where he received an Associate Degree in Computer Science. Adrian was employed with Caterpillar Corp., for many years as a HAZMAT Engineer Supervisor. After leaving Caterpillar he was employed with C.D.W Corp. where he was a HAZMAT Engineer Manager until his health would not allow him.
Adrian enjoyed fishing, fixing/up grading his cars, jet skiing, riding his 4 wheelers, motorcycle and he loved going to Auctions and Flea Markets (one man's junk is another man's treasure) is how he looked at it. Adrian loved life, his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He will truly be missed by us all.
Adrian was a devoted father and leaves to cherish his life, two sons Michael Anthony Shipman and Brandon Adrian Shipman of Anderson, S.C., his loving and devoted daughter Mya Dawn Shipman of Peoria, IL, two stepsons Mason and Austin Harper of Peoria, IL., his loving father Jerry Shipman of Ruther Glen, Va., devoted brother and sister In-law William (Bill) & Pamela (Pam) Shipman of Gainesville, Ga., and Keith (Mark) Shipman, one sister Terry (Frank) Evans of Buffalo NY. two cousin/sisters Tammy A. Shipman of Richmond, Va., and Windy C. Randall of Newport News, Va., four grandchildren Madeline, Bentley, and Roxanne Shipman and Jadyn Robinson, five uncles, Joseph C.(Fannie Mae) Shipman of Wayne Pa., J.D. (Betty) Shipman of Richmond, Va., Gregory (Linda) Watts, Keith and Donald Watts of Hampton, Va., five Aunts, Maria S. Clinton of Newport News, Va., Lillian McMillian of Richmond, Va., Linda Taylor of Charlotte, N.C., Betty Ann Lee of Newport News, Va., and Diane (James) Walker of Hampton, VA., four nieces, devoted Shay Shipman, six nephews, devoted Matthew Shipman, a host of devoted great-nieces/nephews, other devoted relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 14, 2017, 12 Noon at Zion Grove Baptist Church, 9450 Fredericksburg Turnpike, Woodford, Va. 22580.
Burial/Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
