Jerome Carter, Jr., of Bowling Green, Virginia was born on June 5, 1949 to the late Nora and Jerome Carter, Sr. He was the fourth of eight children and known to all as "Ronie". He was educated in the Northumberland County public school system.
Ronie was baptized as a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses at an early age. He rededicated his life to God and later joined St. James Baptist Church in Milford, Virginia.
Ronie entered the Marine Corp Branch of Military Service in 1969 at Camp Lejune in North Carolina where he received his basic training. His first port was Okinawa, Japan. Ronie completed his military career as Staff Sergeant in Quantico, Virginia. He later moved to Caroline County and became an employee of Gen Star Stone Mix which later became American Stone Mix Products where he worked for 28 years.
On September 22, 1995, Ronie married former Rosalind Washington after thirteen (13) years of courtship. They both enjoyed lounging around home and having fun with the grandkids. He nicknamed them the three terrible T's. to Ronie, nothing was more important than family, no matter how imperfect they are.
After a near fatal car accident in October 2006, Ronie spent the last five years in hospitals in Richmond and Hampton, Virginia. On Wednesday, October 19, 2011 after a long battle, but never complaining, he slipped into eternity with his family and friends, which preceded him in death.
Ronie leaves precious memories to be cherished by his devoted wife of 16 years, Rosalind of Bowling Green, VA., his son, Jerome Tyree of Philadelphia, PA.; three granddaughters, Tyasia Carter, Tamara Carter, and Titanna Carter, all of Bowling Green, VA.; five sisters, Viola Williams of Kilmarnock, VA., Barbara Ann Nails of Wilmington, DE., Mildred Reid of Kilmarnock, VA., Linda Carter and Debra Ransmeier, both of Silver Spring, MD.,; two brothers and two sisters in-law, Rogers Carter (Joyce) of Bowling Green, VA., and Eddie Carter (Martha) of Kilmarnock, VA.,, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, from 12 Noon to 8 PM at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home and also one hour before at church.
A Celebration of Life service will be Wednesday, October 26, at 12 Noon at St. James Baptist, 19514 Sparta Road, Milford, VA., 22514 with Rev. Dr. Charles F. Baugham, Sr., Pastor Officiating.
Interment will be in the Quantico National Cemetery, Triange, VA.
