Obituary

On Saturday, May 6, 2017, Jelonny Cedrick (Lonnie Pooh) Ross departed this life at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. He was born on September 24, 1982 to the late Sadie E Ross and Julian "Grant" Childs, Sr.

During Jelonny's early childhood he was adopted, loved and cared for by Margie L. Peatross, "Gramps" which he called her. Jelonny accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He attended and graduated from Caroline County High School. Upon graduating he became employed by Iron Skillet and Blue Beacon both in Ruther Glen, Virginia and from there he pursued other employment opportunities within the restaurant business.

Jelonny was a comedian, outgoing, positive and loving person who loved to cook especially at night. To know him was to love him. Jelonny always did his thing to survive without trying to worry others until his health started to diminish.

Jelonny leaves to cherish his memories two brothers, Julian Childs, Jr. and Otis Childs, Jr. of Bowling Green, Virginia; his grandmother Margie Whiting of King William, Virginia; two uncles Frankie (BO) Ross of Cheverly, Maryland and John Childs (Deborah) of Bowling Green, Virginia; three aunts, Ola Brown-Ford of Cheverly, Maryland;, Juliette Freeman (Wesley) and Alva Totten both of Bowling Green, Virginia; great-aunt Pearl Johnson; his adopted mother, Margie "Gramps" Peatross; two adopted sisters, Yvette Johnson (Kyle) of Dawn, Virginia, Faye Peatross of Bowling Green, Virginia; one adopted brother Thomas (Randy) Peatross (Robin) of Richmond, Virginia; adopted aunt Yvonne Moffett (Romie) and adopted uncle Robert Rousey; devoted cousin Annie "Sister" Myers; best friends and cousins, Kyle Johnson, Taft Coghill, Jr. and Anthony Coghill ; special friend Arlene Washington and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Caroline County Community Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be private
