Jean Delores Washington of Milford, Virginia, departed this life on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 5, 1948 to Deaconess Edith M. Washington and the late Deacon Marion J. Washington. She graduated from the Union High School, Bowling Green, VA. Jean completed a certificate program before embarking on a career with the Jones, Day, Reavis, and Pogue Law Firm in Washington, DC, where she retired in 1994.

Jean was baptized at an early age at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. In her later years she rededicated her life to Christ at Joshua Christian Center in Clinton, Maryland, where she served as the church clerk until her health began to deteriorate. Through it all, she remained committed to the Word, attending Bible study at Mt. Tabor as her health allowed. Jean traveled extensively to the Caribbean and Europe, influencing those close to her to follow in her footsteps.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Jenia (Kevin) Blanger of Ashburn, VA, and one son Emanuel Watson, who still lived in her home, her mother Deaconess Edith Washington, a devoted sister Joyce Allen, and grandchildren: Tysin and Colin. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Michelle (Marty), Debbie, Frederick (Hazel), Ronnet (Henry); a devoted cousin Marsha and a host of other close family members and special friends.

The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 24795 Mattaponi Trail, Milford, Virginia 22514, with Rev. Michael Parker delivering the eulogy. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
