Jean McWhirter, 63, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 24, 2011, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

Jean Patricia McWhirter, affectionally known as "Moma Jean or Ms. Jean" was born on September 11, 1948, in Hampton, VA to the late Ernest A. Johnson and Evelyn Brinkley.

In 1968, she was united in Holy matrimony to Hayward Lee McWhirter and out of that union two children, Eurainia Lee and Nichole Evelyn McWhirter, were born.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Eurainia McWhirter, Nichole McWhirter and Siera Thurston; her mother, Evelyn Brinkley; Grandmother, Georgia Atkins; seven siblings, Ernest Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Renia Holmes, Stephanie Callahan, Olivia Mercer, Sabrina Walker; sister-in-law Wanda Johnson; grandchildren, Jenaee McWhirter, Malachi Lipscomb, Ja'Mir Sims.

A viewing will be Friday, October 28, from noon to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond, VA 22427 and one hour before service at the church on Saturday.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, at Third Mount Zion Baptist Church, 9132 Fredericksburg Turnpike, Woodford, VA 22580, with Rev. Antonio M. Baker, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Third Mt. Zion Cemetery, 13121 Woodford Road, Woodford, VA/
