Jean Arlena Moore was born October 29, 1944 to the late Horace and Beatrice Vessels Latney in Washington, D.C. Jean received her education through the King and Queen County school system. She was employed by the American Federation of Teachers for many years. She went on to work for the Federal Census Bureau for several years until her retirement in 1999. She fell asleep in death on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.
Jean married Leroy Moore on March 28, 1969. They shared many years of making memories together. In particular, they enjoyed the same music, rhythm and blues. Jean learned the truth from God's Word the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on December 3, 1983. She was able to accept the privilege of full time service for a number of years. She faithfully attended the East Fort Washington Congregation in Accokeek, Maryland. Jean was a loving and mild tempered Christian woman who loved telling others about Jehovah God's promises for the future.
Jean will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish fond memories, her husband of 48 years, Leroy, her siblings; Gloria Samuel, Robert Latney ( Elaine), Annie Chatman (Charles), Pauline Bundy and Earl Latney (Evelyn), in-laws; Jannie Moore, JoAnn Taldert (Joseph), Thelma Richardson (Marvin), Timothy Moore (Paula), Willie Moore (Ruby) and Johnnie Moore; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 11:30 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 16303 Livingston Road, Accokeek, Maryland 20607 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
A second service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery, 21180 Bagby Road, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427
