On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, Our Heavenly Father opened the book of life and began roll call. He looked at the name of our dear loved one, James Edward Young, Jr. and called his name to come home to rest in peace under His wings.
James Edward Young, Jr. was born on January 9, 1939 to the late James Edward Young, Sr. and Pauline Hudson Young of Sparta, Virginia. James affectionately known as "Junior" or "Brother" was the oldest of six children. James joined Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age and was educated in Caroline County. He began his work as a field logger next to his father. He was also employed for many years at Carter Brothers Automotive. James was an avid farmer that locals could depend on for produce always with a smile. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
James leaves loving memories for his mother, Pauline Young; two sons, Michael Young of Ladysmith, Virginia and Mark Young (Michele) of Richmond, Virginia; three sisters, Annie Childs, Gloria Young and Doris Chapman all of Bowing Green, Virginia; two brothers, Robert Young (Faye)of Richmond, Virginia and Charles Young (Carolyn) of Newtown, Virginia; three grandsons, Mark Young, Jr., Michael Young, Jr. and Martwan Young; three great grandchildren, MaKari, Ma'Kyia and Mia, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his former wife and mother of his children, Shirley Young.
A viewing will be held Friday, February 6, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour before the service on Saturday.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 21180 Bagby Road, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with Rev, Jared S. Beasley delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
