Obituary

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, Almighty God saw fit to dispatch His angels to quietly and gently guide our daddy to his heavenly home.  James Theodore Williams peacefully departed this life at the age of 90.

He was affectionately known as "Thedo," "Uncle Thedo," and "Tom Thumb." He was born on November 8, 1935, in Caroline County, Virginia, to the late Charlie and Elizabeth Williams. Theodore was educated in the Caroline County school system and was a proud graduate of Union High School.

Throughout his life, Thedore was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He held various positions over the years, including employment at the former FMC Plant. He also devoted many years of service to Bailey Funeral Home, where he became a familiar and trusted presence in the community. Later, he continued his career with the federal government, working with the General Services Administration (GSA) until his retirement.

Theodore was a faithful and devoted member of Zion Grove Baptist Church, where he was baptized at an early age. He served his church diligently in multiple capacities, including as a Trustee, an Usher, and a proud member of the Zion Grove Men's Chorus. His commitment to his faith and church family remained steadfast throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, James Theodore Williams, Jr.; his parents, Charlie and Elizabeth Williams; all eight of his siblings: Charles Williams, Aubrey Williams, Margaret Williams, Pierpoint Williams, Hilda Mae Lewis, Franklin Williams, Thelma Jackson and Elizabeth Jackson.

Theodore leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Jeffrey Theodore Williams, Tammy Turner Williams (David) & Daryl LaRon Williams; his former wife, Rebecca Brown; four grandsons Dwayne Johnson, Terell Turner, Christopher Williams & Ryan Kennon; and one great-grandson, Adonis Ali Turner, along with a host of extended family and friends.

Theodore will be fondly remembered by his children not only for his quiet strength and steady presence, but also for love he expressed through his cooking.  From a warm pot of navy beans and hot buttery biscuits to the thickest pancakes imaginable – and of course, his unforgettable BBQ pig feet.  His meals brought comfort, joy and togetherness to those he loved.  He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, loving each of them in his own quiet but meaningful way. Whether through a gentle word, a shared laugh, or one of his signature jokes, he created moments that will never be forgotten.

Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of faith, love and devotion will live on in the hearts of all that knew him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 7187 Macedonia Road, Woodford, VA  22580, with a viewing one hour prior to service.
