Obituary

James G. White, 85 of Milford, Virginia entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Virginia. He was born February 23, 1932, to the late Solomon White, Sr. and Alice Stewart White of Windsor, North Carolina.

He attended the Bertie County Public Schools and graduated from W. S. Etheridge High School in 1952 in Windsor, North Carolina. Upon graduation, he entered the army in 1952 and served in the Korean Conflict serving honorably until October 17, 1960. James enrolled at North Caroline A & T and received his undergraduate degree in Agriculture. He continued his studies at Virginia State College receiving his master's degree in Agricultural Education in May of 1970. His teaching career spanned over a 50 year period in the counties of Fluvanna, Amherst and Caroline finally retiring in 2002 in Caroline.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 47 years, Josephine Eubanks White of Milford, Virginia; children, Cedric White (Pamela) of Ruther Glen and Rodney White (DeShay); three sisters, Lettie Pugh of Newport News, Thelma Thompson (James) and Martha Williams (Alton) all of Hampton, Virginia; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Willie White, Sr., Solomon White, Jr. and Johnny White, Jr. and one sister, Lucinda Outlaw.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Saint John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580 with a Christian Wake from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Saint John Baptist Church with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. Darryl Thompson, Pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Virginia will deliver the eulogy with Pastor W. G. Berryman, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
