James Walter Washington, affectionately know to many as Jimmy or Crim was born July 20, 1953 to the late Evelyn D. Washington and Lindsey Sam Childs, Sr.
James entered eternal peace after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
He attended school in Caroline County, Virginia. After graduation , he served in the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard. James married his first love Karen Terrell in April 1974 and to this union two daughter were born, Desiree and Erica Washington. He also gained a bonus daughter when he married Karen Terrell, Tonya Moore who he loved dearly ever since she was a young girl.
James married the second love of his life, Karen Anderson in May 2004. He was a bonus dad to Harry and Starlette Anderson.
James worked at Bear Island Paper Company until he retired in January 2017. Until his health started to decline, he had a passion for fishing and crabbing. He loved sharing his catch with family and friends. he loved "shooting the breeze" with his buddies; Kenny, Dave, Tat and his favorite pup "Sphinx" to name a few. In his spare time, Jimmy enjoyed watching his favorite tv shows and could teach a history lesson on anyone who sat down to watch them with him.
In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his daughter, Erica Washington.
James leaves to cherish precious memories with his wife Karen of seventeen years; three daughters, Tonya Moore (Eric),Desiree Washington, and Starlette Anderson; son, Harry Anderson, Jr; blessed with nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; aunts Joyce and Fannie Washington of Caroline County, Virginia; stepmother, Elsie; two half sisters, Winnie and Ann; two half brothers, Lindsey, Jr and Daryl Childs; two faithful cousins who were more like a sibling and nephew, Barbara Ann (Ray) and Kenneth Welsh (Pat) and a host of other relatives and friends.
A walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the funeral home with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, Virginia 22172.
Due to COVID-19 a mask or face covering is required upon entering funeral home.
