James Jessie Taylor entered eternal rest on Sunday March 24, 2013. He was born to the late Willie Taylor and the late Lou Emma Taylor on March 20, 1937.

James, "Stack" to his friends, was a quiet man with a big heart, always willing to help his family and friends at a moments notice. He was a very outgoing man who didn't like to just sit around. He loved to travel and was a founding member of "The Zephyrs" a traveling organization. He also loved to hunt fish and watch "his" Redskins.

James received his formal education in the Caroline County School system and graduated from Union High School in 1955. James was a hard and dedicated worker; his first job was as a truck driver with Atlantic Magazine Co. and later was employed by Giant Food where he worked until retirement in 1995.

James accepted Christ at an early age and joined Reedy Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, Virginia, where he served faithfully.

James was joined in Holy Matrimony to Jacqueline Keys in 1967 and to this union one son was born Juan Taylor.

James leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted son, Juan Taylor, Upper Marlboro, Md.;
Two daughters, Diane T. Newman, Waldorf, Md., and Ruby J. Johnson, Ruther Glen, Va.
Seven grandchildren and Sixteen great grandchildren., One brother, Norman "Duke" Davis, One aunt Nancy Washington, both of Washington D.C. Devoted friends, James "Sweets" Golden, Charles and Harold Coleman, Deacon Andrew Anderson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and other friends. A special thank you to devoted friend, Arethia Jackson and her family.


A viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Friday, March 29, at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour before the service on Saturday.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m. at Caroline County Community Service Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Rev. Dr. Bernard Goode will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Reedy Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruther Glen, Virginia.
