Obituary

After a courageous fight, Trustee James N. Golden, known as "Sweets" to family and friends, peacefully entered eternity on Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Sweets, son of the late Jennie and Thomas Golden was born on November 8, 1935 in Port Royal, Virginia. Sweets spent a number of years in Washington, D.C. before returning to Bowling Green, VA after retirement from Giant Foods. He received his education in the Caroline County Schools.

On July 2, 1955 he was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Beatrice D. Golden - they spenty fifty (50) years together. From this union, four children were born; Gregory (Theddy), Linda, Andre, and Tina. Early in life, he confessed faith at Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Royal, Virginia. While living in Washington, D.C. for more than 30 years, he attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. James was an active Trustee for Shiloh Baptist Church, Bowling Green, VA. James was always the same whenever you would see him. (He loved the Lord and trusted in him faithfully). through the many storms that he encountered, he was afflicted but not defeated because he loved the Lord.

James was preceded in death by his Wife (Bea) and his son, Gregory (Theddy) Golden, three brothers, Robert, Eddie, and Bernard, and two sisters, Lucille and Jennie Vee.

James leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Andre M. Golden of Ruther Glen, Va., two daughters, Linda J. Logan of Temple Hills, MD, and Tina D. Chubbs of Clinton, MD; one son-in-law, Edward Chubbs, one daughter-in-law, Marion Golden, four grandchildren, Keith M. Golden (Lela), Andrea M. Wimbush (Anthony), Ashley N. Golden and Corey A. Chubbs, two great-grandson, Amir and Amare Wimbush, two great-granddaughters, Keila and Lola Golden, one special mother Carrie Saunders, one sister, Sally Seaborn and one brother, Willie Golden, one sister-in-law Mary Golden, one God Son, Frederick Moffett, a host of nieces and nephews. A very "Special" and devoted friend, Laura Howard and her entire family. Three sister-friends, Bernice Fortune, Virginia Latney, and Helen Johnson. Three special brother friends, Oliver Minor, Floyd Fortune, and Roland Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 12 Noon - 8 PM at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Va.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, 11 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church, 127 South Main Street, Bowling Green, Va.

Rev. Charles Johnson, Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church will deliver the eulogy.
