James W. Smith, 76, affectionately known as "Big Jack" of Woodford, VA entered into eternal rest at his residence on Monday, February 8, 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bertha W. Smith; eight children, Welford Smith, Sr., Bertha Sims, John W. Smith, Thomas Smith, Sarah A. Smith, Roderick Smith, Keith Smith, and Kathy Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 P.M. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., Bowling Green, VA and one hour before funeral services at the Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at St. John Baptist Church (Milford), 17080 South River Road, Woodford, VA 22580 with Rev. Dr. W. G. Berryman, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
