A time to be born:
James Edward Shepherd, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born November 10, 1945, to the late Edna Mae and David Miller, in Bryn Mawr,Pa.
A time to learn:
Jimmy received his education in the Caroline County School System. He Graduated from Union High School in 1965.
A time to worship:
Jimmy was baptized at St. James Baptist Church by the late Rev. E.L.R. Guss. He maintained his membership through his adult life. Jimmy could often be found in the choir stand as he was a member of the Male and the Mass Choirs. Jimmy was also member of the Men's Ministry until his health declined.
A time to enjoy:
Jimmy love to sing and play his harmonica or harp as he would say. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends but most of all Jimmy loved being on his wood pile. You could often find Jimmy singing and telling stories out in the yard. He took great pride in his Grandchildren and loved each of them dearly.
A time to work:
Jimmy started his work career at Foreign and domestic. Jimmy later when on to work at The Rappahannock Electric Cooperative or as he said the co-op. He was employed at REC from October 1978 until his retirement in 2007. After his retirement Jimmy did yard work for several clients until his health no longer allowed.
A time to mourn:
Jimmy quietly entered the Kingdom of God Friday, August 7, 2020. He leaves memories to be cherished by his daughter Kristy Gordon, of Washington, D.C. his son Jonathan Shepherd Sr. of Ruther Glen, Virginia, grandchildren; Jonathan Shepherd II and Janaesya Shepherd, Great-grandson, Zaiden Shepherd, His brother Robert Wayne Allen (Paula), of Coatesville, Pa. His Sister Gwendolyn Miller, of Philadelphia, Pa., nieces; Kimesha, Kia, and Danielle of Philadelphia, Pa., and Tia of Coatesville, Pa. nephew; David of Philadelphia Pa., devoted friend Rose Edler, devoted cousins and caregivers Sophia Shepherd-Wormley and Lavarro Minor, devoted cousins Thomas Davis, Roosevelt Childs, Special babies Keiasha Shepherd, Russell and Ryan Wormley, a host of cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at C.W.Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday August 14, 2020 at C.W.Edwards Funeral Home, Inc.
Reverend Lewis Yancey will be delivering the eulogy.
Interment will follow in St. James Baptist Church cemetery, 19514 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia 22514
