James Leon Fortune, 76, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at his home in Milford, Virginia. James, affectionaly known as "Mutt" was born in Alps, Virginia on July 24, 1936, to the late George Ellis and Nora Fortune.

He is survived ty his daughter, Lori Fortune, whom he lived with; two sons, Bruce Fortune (Scheneeta) and Jimmy Fortune (Betty Ann); eight grandchildren, LaTonya Martin, Buck Fortune, Tabi Fortune, Tasha Monroe, Michael Fortune, Justine Fortune, Tracy Fortune and Sterling Fortune; nine great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved and cherished very much; one brother, Everette "Jeff" (Adell); two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, on Friday, January 4, 2013, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Rollins Family Cemetery in Alps, Virginia.
