James Eldridge Childs, (Man after God's own heart) was born December 29, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to the late Wilbur and Annie Childs. James known as "Eldridge" to many entered into eternal rest after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, March 25, 2019at the Texas Methodist Health Center.

He attended school in Caroline County, Virginia up to the eighth grade and then moved to Richmond, Virginia, where he graduated from Maggie Walker High School. He was grand treasurer WWMT, Grand Masonic Lodge of Natchez, Mississippi. He was a 33rd Degree mason. Eldridge was the superintendent and Sunday School teacher. He was still on the battlefield working for the Lord when his name was called to come to his Heavenly  home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Wilbur and Lindsey Childs, Sr.

Eldridge dedicated his life to the Lord for the past forty years along with his wife.

He leaves to cherish his memories, devoted wife of fort-eight years, Joe Ann Harris Childs; two daughters, Semon Childs and Trinita Kern (Edward); two grandsons, Fionn Childs and Zachary Kern; one great- grandchild, Amari Childs; one sister, Marie Foxx; one sister-in-law, Elsie Childs; two brothers-in-law, Walter Harris (Denotra) and Ray Harris (Bobbie); a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday March 30, 2019 at Second Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 17247 New Baltimore Road, Milford, Virginia 22514.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Second Mt .Calvary Baptist Church, 17247 New Baltimore Road, Milford, Virginia 22514.

Interment will be held  at 12:00 noon on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, Virginia 22173.
