Irene Suline Holmes, affectionally known as "Rena" entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Falls Run Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

She was born October 11, 1921, to the late Charlie Gregory and Ella Oliver Gregory in Boydton, Virginia.

She leaves to cherish her memories and life, two nieces which she loved as daughters, Ella E. Johnson of Mechanicsville, Virginia and Mary J. Taylor of West Point, Virginia; one devoted granddaughter, Japata L. Taylor Avent of Stafford, Virginia; eight nieces, two wonderful caregivers, Shyrel Anderson and Monica Williams; two devoted friends, Queen Johnson and Gertrude Gaines and a host of other great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A homegoing celebration will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2011, at Providence Baptist Church, Aylett, Virginia, with the Rev. Evans C. White, Jr. delivering the eulogy and Bishop Miller, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
