Inez Johnson Thomas was born January 15, 1920 to parents Alvin Johnson and Ruth Parker, in Caroline County, Virginia where she was raised. She was educated in the Virginia School System.

She married Harry Beale Williams and out of that union, they had four children; Gwendolyn Marie Williams, Beale Arnell Williams, Elsie Virginia Williams and Joyce Irma Williams.

Later she moved to Baltimore, Maryland and worked for the Western Electric Company in telephone manufacturing, which she worked for 37 years before retiring. she was very active outside of work and her time was spent volunteering in various organizations, receiving many awards as recognition for her dedicated service. She was an avid duck pin bowler and won many trophies. In 1956, she joined Emmanuel Christian Community Church and was also deeply engaged in service there.

She met and married Henry Lawson Thomas and was happily married until his death in 1996. Later in life she moved into the Carita's House assisted living facility where she resided until her death.

Inez was preceded in death by two children; Beal Arnell Williams and Gwendolyn Marie Simmons; two brothers, Franklin Johnson and Reverend George Coleman; three sisters, Girlene Gaines, Ann Gaines and Lucille Williamson.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Elsie Virginia Parker of Passing, Virginia and Joyce W. Simmons of Baltimore, Maryland; one son-in-law, Adolph Simmons; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery, Dodge City Road, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427
