Reverend Inez Wilson Dawson was born on May 15,1930, in Caroline County, Virginia to William David Wilson, Sr., and Lucy Lewis Wilson. Of the nine children born of that marriage, two of the children were twins, Inez and Irene. Inez departed this life on January 19, 2022, at Reston Hospital Center in Reston, Virginia. She was married to the late Deacon Willie E. Dawson of Woodford, Virginia, and from this marriage, four children were born: Yulanda, Marshall, Larry and Tyron. The Dawsons enjoyed more than 70 years of marital bliss until his demise on October 27, 2016.
Reverend Dawson received her formal education at Union High School in Bowling Green, Virginia. Later in her life, she received a Master of Arts Degree in Cosmetology at the National Beauty Culturist Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. She was licensed to teach cosmetology in the State of Virginia. A true entrepreneur, Reverend Dawson owned a hair and beauty salon, Inez De Hair Stylist in Woodford, Virginia, and worked there until she was no longer able to work in her trade. She was also employed at Best Products Retail for many years and retired from that company.
Reverend Dawson was a member of the Third Mount Zion Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia until her marriage to Willie Dawson. Shortly afterwards, she transferred her membership to Beulah Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia, where she participated in many phases of the church's activities. Over the years, she sang in the church's choir, served as an Usher, was an Eastern Star member, a Deaconess and an Assistant Pastor of Beulah Baptist Church. She also enjoyed traveling, having traveled to Mexico, Hawaii, the Bahamas and many cities within the United States. In addition, she enjoyed going for walks, cooking, shopping and inviting friends over for lunch or dinner. Her children, Yulanda, Larry and Tyron say that she was a wonderful mother and friend. They were always free to share whatever was troubling them, whether it was good or bad. Yulanda loved going shopping with her mother, and Tyron loved being around her and will always love and cherish her memories.
Her son, Marshall and grandson, David preceded her in death, as well as six of her sisters, Rebecca Parker, Irene Carter, Mary Lee Jackson, Ruth Monte, Margaret Taylor and Lucy Mae Smith.
Reverend Dawson leaves cherished and precious memories to her children: Yulanda, Larry and Tyron; her sister, Katherine Wilson Conrad; brother, William David Wilson Jr. (Buster); three grandchildren, Melissa, Sonia and Joseph; twelve great-grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22514.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the funeral home with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, 5216 Arcadia Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580
