Ida Pearl Roane Pierce, departed this life peacefully February 21, 2018 at Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on March 6, 1932 to the late Johnnie and Pathena Roane.
She was married on August 5, 1950 to the late Herbert Everson Pierce and from this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters.
Ida better known to her friends as "Donkey" accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Mount Olive Baptist Church in Newtown, Virginia where she remained a member until her passing.
Ida held various positions in her lifetime. Many years at Miller & Rhoades Department store in customer service where she learned to wrap presents so pretty, we sometimes hated to open them. She was employed at the 7-11 in Aylett, Virginia where it seemed she knew everyone and everyone knew her. Lastly she went back to school and became a certified home health care aid.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Pierce, daughter-in-law, Christine Delores Pierce and her five sisters; Julia Ware, Nannie Richards, Alice Byrd, Susie Holmes and Louise Hickman.
She leaves cherished memories to her four children; Charles Pierce of Aylett, Virginia, Lewis Pierce of (Geraldine) of Bowling Green, Virginia, Phyllis Pierce of Oxen Hill, Maryland and Patricia Pierce of Washington, D.C.; two grandsons, Antione and Avery Pierce of Sterling, Virginia; three granddaughters, Shardae and Shantae Jeter of Bowling Green, Virginia and Jessica Pierce of Washington, D.C.; five great-grandchildren, Roman, Joel, Jermiah,Pashia and Nehemiah of Washington, D.C.; three sisters-in-law, Jane Hudson of Bowling Green, Virginia, Lorraine Payne of Bowling Green, Virginia and Clara Thompkins of Tappahannock, Virginia; one brother-in-law, James Pierce of Bowling Green, Virginia, long time friends; Adell Hawes Mary Person, Shasta Person and Rozzelle Person whom she babysat for a number of years.
A viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2018 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at First Mount Olive Baptist Church, 7820 Newtown Road, Newtown, Virginia 23126 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation Center, nurses, and certified nursing assistants for taking such good care of their mom. They are extremely grateful for the service that that was provided for their mom during her stay.
