Nov 2, 1947 — Apr 7, 2025
Woodford
Herman "Roy" Smith was born November 2, 1947, in Caroline County, Virginia to the late Percy Will Smith and Lottie Simms Smith. On Monday, April 7, 2025, God transitioned him to his heavenly home.
Roy was educated in the Caroline County School System and graduated from Union High School in 1967. He was baptized at St. John Baptist Church at an early age.
He served in the United States Army and was an active soldier in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. He was employed by the United States Senate Service Department as an Assistant Foreman for approximately thirty years.
Roy enjoyed life and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Star Pick Up Truck Club, and he was a Worthy Past Master of Welcome Lodge #125 of Bowling Green, Virginia. Roy indulged in riding his motorcycle. In his pass time he took pleasure in building a race car with his sons. He had a contagious smile, laugh and a comical sense of humor. Whenever in his presence you can count on enjoying a good laugh. He had a passion for racing, specifically at Colonial Beach, Summer Duck and Budds Creek in Maryland. There may just be some tire tread marks still left on those raceways.
He was joined in holy matrimony with his beloved wife Rita White Smith for fifty-four years. To this union, two sons were born, Ryan O. Smith and Michael N. Smith.
Roy was preceded in death by his father, Percy W. Smith and mother, Lottie S. Smith, his brothers Percy J. Smith (Bernice), Arthur "Randolph" Smith, and Linwood "Earl" Smith, brother-in-law William Gray and son Michael N. Smith.
Roy leaves precious memories to cherish to his devoted wife, Rita White Smith of Woodford, Virginia, son, Ryan O.
