Henry A. Wilson, Sr., son of the late Matilda E Lawson and Stephen E. Wilson, was born February 7, 1933 in Fredericksburg, Virginia He departed this life peacefully at Mary Washington Hospital on June 30, 2017.

Henry, who was fondly known as "Heavy, Bro & Brother" accepted Christ at an early age. He had a personal, relationship with God and throughout his life time would say "I've got angels all around me everyday." He received his education from the Caroline County School system and attended Virginia Union University. One of his signature pieces of advice and most valued lessons he taught his children and grandchildren was to "get all the education you can get! Because that's one thing no one can take from you.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Ruth Wilson on March 15, 1960. Together they have 7 children, Cornelius Jerome Carter (May), Henry "Duke" Wilson, Jr., Della Wilson, Paulette Hudson (Theodore), Lloyd "Babybrother" Wilson (Audra),Garry "Butchie" Wilson and Dwight "Danny" Wilson(Kimberly). Henry and Ruth formed a life of taking care of one another and kept their vows through sickness and health.

Henry proudly served in the United States Air Force, traveling and serving in Japan, Hawaii and Korea. His stories of being in the service were some of his favorites to tell. He retired from Fort A. P. Hill after 23 plus years of service. Henry was always on the go. He never liked sitting still. He filled his life with working hard and always keeping busy, which earned him the nickname "Running in the Red." He quickly became bored with being retired and became employed with Caroline County Public Schools and Kings Dominion, working another 20 plus years after retiring. He was always a devoted, loyal and dedicated employee, even when he became wheelchair bound, he wanted to work.

In his spare time he enjoyed working, gardening, playing checkers, cards (spades), watching sports (long time Red Skin fan, but switched to the New England Patriots in his senior years) and westerns. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 57 years; seven children; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a dear cousin, Jean Wilson; a sister-in-law, Vernetta Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and love ones.

We will forever remember him as a husband, father, grandfather and friend who was a humble, generous man, a wonderful provider and diligent hard worker with gentle strength and a keen sense of humor.
